Dr. Michael Sherman is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in advanced cataract refractive surgery, LASIK, PRK, LASEK, glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, and oculoplastic surgery of the eye. He also has additional subspecialty training in neuro-ophthalmology from Michigan State University. Dr. Sherman completed his ophthalmology residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan in Consortium with Michigan State University.
After receiving his B.S in Physiology at Michigan State University, he went on to attend the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. Dr. Sherman’s training continued with an internship at Beaumont Farmington Hills. Outside of his education and teachings, Dr. Sherman is dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care. He knows how uncomfortable vision and eye problems can be so he makes it a point to be caring and compassionate to all patients. He loves his work and feels a great deal of fulfillment when he can improve the quality of life for his patients at Physician Eye Care Associates.
Dr. Sherman is currently an associate clinical professor at Michigan State University. He is an ophthalmology residency trainer for Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital and Royal Oak Beaumont, and has been involved in resident training since 1997. Dr. Sherman is a certified trainer in laser cataract surgery and Lasik vision correction surgery. He is honored to be viewed by his peers as a leader in the ophthalmology field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sherman has stressed the importance of medical education and giving back to the community. He has been directly involved in teaching countless medical students, interns and residents. He has given many lectures both nationally and locally, and has provided free eye care at health fairs, extended care facilities and group homes.
